“Para comprometernos más. Visita a la tumba del compañero Galeano.”

24 de mayo de 2014, Caracol I de La Realidad, Chiapas.– Justo comenzando el atardecer, después de la lecturadel documento central del homenaje a Galeano, se comunicó por parte del Subcomandante Insurgente Moisés que se podría visitar la tumba del compañero, para mostrar solidaridad con la familia, la compañera del finado y las Bases de Apoyo Zapatistas (BAZ).

Miles de compañeros y compañeras BAZ junto con los y las adherentes a la Sexta, formaron una inmensa fila, esperando pasar por la tumba. Uno por uno, salieron desde el centro del caracol rumbo al poblado de La Realidad hasta el pequeño solar donde descansa su cuerpo. Al llegar, una compañera coordinaba las visitas.

“¿Es aquí la tumba del compañero Galeano?”

“Sí”, –contestó–,“para comprometernos más.”

Un círculo constante de compañeros y compañerascubiertos con pasamontañas abrazaban la tumba, rodeándola. Con el puño izquierdo levantado y con un saludo militar, cada uno pasó enfrente colocando una piedra en la orilla. La tumba, construida de piedra blanca, estaba rodeada de flores, guirnaldas y muchas velas que iluminaban el lugar.

“¿Por qué la piedra, compa?”

“Cada persona que se compromete a luchar deja una piedra, porque como Galeano, es un símbolo de resistencia hasta la muerte.”
Tal vez, el acto de dejar una piedra significa también que el corazón necesita fuerza para que la muerte, que llega sin avisar, no duela tanto; al mismo tiempo, compañeros y compañeras de la Sexta repetían el acto para dar continuidad a la construcción de Otros Mundos.

Se dejó el dolor y se continuó avanzando con la esperanza de seguir construyendo una sociedad anticapitalista, autónoma, sin pedirle nada al gobierno, creando el suyo propio, con libertad, democracia y justicia,uno de los ejemplos que nos dan cada día los compañeros y compañeras del EZLN y los pueblos zapatistas.

La noche se come la luz y quedan los destellos de las velas que iluminan el camino que anduvo Galeano en vida.
En el último acto del Homenaje a Galeano, el Subcomandante Insurgente Marcos y el Subcomandante Insurgente Moisés brindarán su palabra para darle cierre al evento que nos convocó a todos a reunirnos en La Realidad, y aunque lo motivaran el dolor y la rabia: lo que queremos es justicia, no venganza.

May 24th, 2014 24, Caracol I, La Realidad, Chiapas.-Just as the sunset began, after a reading of the central document of the memorial for Galeano, SubcomandanteInsurgenteMoisés advised that attendees could visit the compañero´s grave to express solidarity with the family, the compañera of the deceased and the Bases de Apoyo Zapatistas or BAZ (Zapatista support bases).

Thousands of compañeros andcompañeras of BAZ, together with adherents oflaSexta, (the Sixth Declaration of the Lacondon Jungle), gathered, forming an endless line and waiting to catch a glimpse of the grave. One by one, they traveled from the center of the caracol towards the community La Realidad, arriving at the small backyard where his body now rests. Upon arriving, a compañera coordinated the visits.

“The compañeroGaleano’s grave is here?”

“Yes”, –she answered–,“to further commit ourselves.”

A constant circle ofcompañeros and compañerascovered with pasamontañas(skimasks) embraced the tomb, surrounding it. With the left fist raised and a military salute, each one passed in front, placing a stone on its edge. The tomb, made out of white stone, was covered with flowers, adornments and many candles illuminating the space.
“And why the stone, compa?”

“Each person committed to the struggle leaves a stone, because just like Galeano, it is a symbol of resistance until death”.

Perhaps, the act of leaving a stone also means that the heart needs strength so that death, the kind that arrives without warning, doesn´t hurt so much; compañeros and compañeras of la Sextarepeated the act to give continuity to the construction of Other Worlds.

They left their pain, and advanced onwards with the hope necessary to continue building an anticapitalist, autonomous society, without asking for a thing from the government, but instead, creating their very own, with freedom, democracy and justice, one of the examples that the compañeros and compañeras of the EZLN and the Zapatista pueblos provide us with every day.

The light faded and as night arrived, the flickers of candlelight lit up the path that Galeano walked.

In the final act of the Memorial to Galeano, SubcomandanteInsurgente Marcos andSubcomandanteInsurgenteMoisésshared their word to close out the event that convoked us all to come together in La Realidad. They reminded us that although we are here as a result of the pain and rage we all feel: what we want is justice, not revenge.

24 maggio 2014, Caracol de La Realidad, Chiapas. Dopo il tramonto, il subcomandante Moisés ha annunciato la possibilità di visitare la tomba di Galeano, per dimostrare solidarietà alla sua familia, alla sua compagna e alle basi d’appoggio zapatiste.

Migliaia di zapatisti e zapatiste, insieme agli aderenti alla Sexta, si sono messi in fila per passare, uno per uno, di fronte alla tomba. Una zapatista coordinava la visita:

È qui la tomba di Galeano?
Sì, rispose. Per impegnarci di più.

Zapatisti e zapatiste coperte dai passamontagna sfilavano davanti alla tomba, abbracciandola. Con il pugno sinistro alzato e facendo il saluto militare, ognuno passava di fronte alla tomba e depositava una pietra. La tomba di pietra bianca era circondata da fiori, ghirlande e candele.

Perché la pietra, compa?
Ogni persona che si impegna a lottare lascia una pietra perché, come Galeano, è un simbolo di resistenza fino alla morte.

Forse, l’atto di lasciare una pietra significa anche che il cuore ha bisogno di forza perché la morte, che arriva senza avvisare, non faccia troppo male; allo stesso tempo, i compagni e le compagne della Sexta ripetevano l’atto per dare continuità alla costruzione di “Altri mondi”.

Abbiamo lasciato il dolore e continuato ad avanzare con la speranza di continuare a costruire una società anticapitalista, autonoma, senza chiedere nulla al governo, con libertà, democrazia e giustizia, uno degli esempi che ci danno ogni giorno i popoli zapatisti. Nell’ultimo atto dell’omaggio a Galeano, che inizierà in serata, i subcomandanti Marcos e Moisés daranno la loro parola per concludere l’evento che ci ha convocati nella Realidad.
